Type 3.description:
Sootdust is a handsome tom. His thick, waterproof fur is of brown tabby color, with white markings splashing across his underbelly, muzzle and paws. His tail is extraordinarily long looking, particularly when he swims, but most of it is really just very long fur that gives that illusion. It's still a long tail, just not quite as long as it looks! His ears are similar. They're large and pointed, with long tufts of fur of the ends of each. All this fur flows through water with shocking ease because of it's amazing water resistance, and the scales beneath it. However, it creates enough drag to keep his speed slower than some other type 3s in water. The fur also hinders his ability to hunt, but can provide as a great protection in battle. Long fins come off the back of each of his limbs, helping him to swim even faster. Underwater, his brown tabby pelt blends in shockingly well because of it's healthy shine, but his golden eyes almost seem to glow even at the darkest depths.likes:
Socializing, she-cats, kits, games, teaching.dislikes:
Responsibility, bullies, liars, haters, back-stabbers, cheaters.moral values:
Everything should be done in a way that protects the innocent and worn, and benefits the largest number of cats possible, even if it means breaking the rules. And your own clan always comes first, as they are your responsibility.goals:
To be the best possible deputy and possibly future lead for his clan he can be, and to take care of his clan.fears:
Fire, poison, the death of his loved ones.personality:
Most of the time, Sootdust is a fairly light-hearted cat. He enjoys a good joke or prank, and loves to mess around with the younger cats. It's not uncommon to see him hanging around the nursery in his spare time, flirting with the queens and playing with the kits. He truly enjoys the company of other cats, and is a great deputy because of it. Few she-cats mind his constant flirting, as he does it with every she-cat he's ever standing near (even the apprentices!) just for laughs. In fact, she-cats have assumed that if Sootdust isn't flirting with one of them, he actually likes them romantically. However, despite his light-heartedness, Sootdust does have his limits. He knows when to draw the line, and once you cross it, he gets very serious very fast. Nobody wants to see serious Sootdust. Serious Sootdust can be dangerous, and he's not particularly pleasant to be around. But because of this trait, Sootdust has gained a certain respect. Few are under the impression that he can be crossed or used like a more naive cat. That respect is what gained him a place of authority in his clan. Despite his joking around, Sootdust takes the warrior code very seriously, and while he's more flexible with it than Lionstar, he know's what's what and would never break the warrior code just for fun.father:

Sootdust is derived from a very pure Riverclan line of cats. His mother, Pebblenose, was a type two Riverclan cat, and his father, Dustpelt was a type three. The pair had met each other as apprentices and were instantly the best of friends, particularly since both of them were from single kit litters and and no siblings to gravitate to. They trained together and played together and soon Dustpaw became Dustpelt and not long after Pebblepaw followed as Pebblenose. For a while, the two just remained friends, still playful and oblivious to the romantic feelings growing between them. That all changed when a she-cat named Darkfoot began to show interest in Ashdust, and Pebblenose realized just how jealous that made her. She wanted Ashdust all to herself. So she asked Ashdust to go hunting with her, and when they were alone she planned on confessing her love to him. Only he confessed his love first in a hurried splutter because he'd seen other tom cats looking at Pebblenose in a way that made him feel jealous!Nobody was surprised to see the pair become mates. In fact, they got a lot of "about time!"s from their clanmates. Of course, it wasn't long before Pebblenose grew heavy with her first litter of kits. Soon, Marshkit (for the nature of their homeland) and Sootkit (in honor of the dark stripes on his pelt, like soot smudged across it) were born! The birth, however, was very rough, and both of Pebblenose's kits were born very weak. But while Sootkit began to improve, Marshkit seemed to gain no progress. In a matter of moons, the young tom passed away. Sootkit was too young to remember his brother, but the death hit Ashdust and Pebblenose hard. The couple was very protective of their surviving kit, and Ashdust began spending more and more time in the nursery with his mate and kit.
But the time came when the queen and tom had to let their kit begin to grow up, and after a healthy, thriving ending to his kithood, Sootkit became Sootpaw. He was apprenticed to a warrior named Tigerfang, who would prove to be great mentor. He learned quickly, hindered only by the fact that he was easily distracted. It was clear, even at that young age, that he would never be the clan's greatest hunter but he managed to get along alright.
At about ten moons, Sootpaw was shaping up as a fine warrior, and was sent on a border patrol with his mentor, Tigerfant, and his father. They discovered a ThunderClanner wandering onto their territory. Though they managed to fend off the threat, Dustpelt was shocked badly during the fight, and the electricity stopped his heart.
Sootpaw and his mother mourned Dustpelt for several days, but soon discovered that Pebblenose was once again pregnant with Dustpelt's last ever fathered litter of kits. The promise of new life in their family and clan warmed their hearts, and helped them both to come to terms with Ashdust's death. While they would always miss the tom, they knew he would watch over them from StarClan.
At twelve moons, Sootpaw finally earned his warrior ceremony through a spectacular display in his assessments. In honor of his deceased father, Sootpaw was given the name Sootdust, and he joined the warriors with pride. The first few moons of his warrior-hood were uneventful, but he was quickly gaining the affections of several cats in his clan.
Soon, Pebblenose was due for her second litter to be born, and she gave birth to Dustpelt's last three kits: Marshkit, in honor of the kit she lost from her first litter, Dustkit, in honor of her lost mate, and Ripplekit for the ripples that Dustpelt's memory left in their lives.
Sootdust watched over his younger siblings diligently. He grew particularly close to Marshkit, his only brother who had no father figure the way he had growing up. And for many moons, their lives were all uneventful. Sootdust continued to grow in reputation among the clan, particularly when he was assigned to mentor a young she-cat named Minnowtail and proved to be a wonderful mentor. He became known among she-cats for his flirtatious personality, and many of the young apprentices had crushes on him (his own included). Pebblenose even took on a new mate.
After Marshpaw, Ripplepaw and Ashpaw became Marshstep, Ripplegaze and Dustnose, Pebblenose grew heavy with kits again. Sootdust was very happy for his mother to be expecting yet another litter, but only a moon into the pregnancy, she grew ill and miscarried the litter. The medicine cat warned her that she would be unlikely to have any more kits, as something had gone terribly wrong with her body. Sootdust took care of his sorrowful mother as she grew more and more frail. Her new mate helped as well, but even when Pebblenose began to perk up again, she seemed weaker than ever.
Moons later, they found that she was once again carrying kits. However, the good news quickly bitter where Pebblenose's pregnancy grew rough. She was ill on and off the whole time she carried the new unborn kits. When she finally gave birth, she had only one kit, but even that was too much to her. Pebblenose passed away only days later, after naming her new kit Rainkit, for the rain that had been falling since she'd gone into labor until she passed on. Sootdust watched over his younger sister as another queen agreed to feed her. Sootdust made sure to bring the serget fresh prey every day.
While he was playing with the little Rainkit, just old enough to tumble around outside the den, the news came that Ashrain, the clan's deputy had died. Much to his surprise, Lionstar had deemed him a worthy and loyal enough clan member to become the next deputy, and Sootdust gladly accepted.
