Jagged swiped a rosy pink tongue across her ginger and white maw. The taste of the prey had refreshed her body, a new strength now running through her. Not just strength, new thoughts about border patrols. She hadn't seen a decent border patrol in quite some time.
The last time she had gone on a patrol it hadn't gone so well. The leader had been forced to take shelter on SkyClan territory. She wasn't very fond of SkyClan, as they looked like mountain goats. Jagged wasn't saying they were ugly or anything. It was just a bit weird to her, even though she had grown up beside them. Well, not exactly beside them. But a territory away.
She could steal remember how her little patrol had begun. Lightning still gives her the shivers. Especially after Jagged's little trip to SkyClan... The leader suppressed a shiver and thought about the beginning of it.
Jagged glanced at Exampletail and Examplefang with cold, amber eyes. It was a small hunting patrol indeed, but it would hopefully be worth it in the end. In fact, the leader hadn't been on a hunting patrol in a long while because she was normally busy in camp. A leader's help hunting would be nice for a change instead of childish warriors and apprentices slacking around.
She sniffed the air, and caught a scent of rotten prey and SkyClan. Apparently, they were nearing the border which divided BloodClan and SkyClan. Jagged would make sure Exampletail and Examplefang wouldn't cross the border. Unless a fight happened to stir somehow.
The leader leapt over a metal can that she was about to trip on. Jagged was so lost in thought, she had been oblivious to the world around her. She was used to it though, as she was normally quiet during patrols. That is if nothing goes wrong.
Jagged's crooked tail lashed back and forth, pink nose sniffing the air again. She leaped back in surprise when something wet fell onto her nose. The ginger tabby shook it off, but the water droplet ran onto one of her whiskers. At least it dropped off her whisker after a long time of shaking.
She looked up at the sky, only to see that dark clouds had begun to cover the moon. Looks like a storm is coming... Jagged sniffed the air again, hoping that the water hadn't ruined her nose. Of course it hadn't, because it had only been one drop of rain. And now she could smell the rotten food more than ever.
The leader lashed her crooked tail one last time, then began to track down where the food was. Lately, there hadn't been as much prey in BloodClan. So they would spare and get every piece there was on BloodClan territory. Even if it was a baby mouse that couldn't even fill a kit's belly. It would still help them.
Jagged spotted the food and climbed onto the trashcan. "Exampletail and Examplefang. Please go hunt for some live prey while I bring this back," She ordered, leaping down to the rotten food. A plump sparrow, skinny vole, and three scrawny mice. It was better than having an empty stomach! The leader wolfed down one of the mice and picked the freshkill up in her jaw. Now all she had to do was bring the rest of it back to camp.
Rain pattered down on BloodClan territory faster and faster, until the streets began to flood. A bright light flashed through the air, landing a couple of tail-lengths away from Jagged. She dropped her prey, her jaw parted wide in fear. The leader's eyes were wide, the pupils shrinking and the iris becoming bigger.
She broke into a run, paws splashing in the water filled BloodClan territory. Jagged had no time to think. The leader would just have to rely on her instincts. She ran faster as another light flashed behind her. Lightning. Jagged looked over her shoulder and slowed down as to keep a steady pace. And without warning, the leader had ran into SkyClan territory.
The leader soon crashed into a tree, but was thankful for the shelter it provided her. Jagged's vision became a bit blurry, everything becoming slightly fuzzy and out of place. She shook her head, her sight returning to normal. It was defiantly SkyClan territory, and it wasn't any illusion or dream she was living in.
Jagged sighed, slumping her ruffled body against the tree. It was going to be a long day with all the thunder and lightning. Hopefully she could make it back to BloodClan camp before nightfall. After she rested under the tree for a bit, that is.
She almost jumped when she saw a pair of eyes in the shadows of the tree across to her. Jagged wasn't scared of SkyClan cats, just startled by the other cat's presence. Thoughts ran wild in the leader's head. Who is this cat? Are they the leader? What gender are they? Will they challenge me in a fight? What will happen?! She could get captured by SkyClan, which would be a very bad thing.
The leader snapped back to reality, focusing on the border patrol. There needed to be at least three border patrols today. "If you want to go on a border patrol get your butt over here!" Jagged yowled at BloodClan.
