Blackpelt raced through the tree tops, stopping here and there to hunt. Not much was out, and she sighed inwardly as she kept going. The air was thick and warm, making her ebony colored fur prickle with tension. As she neared the border with Shadowclan, she kept a close eye out for enemy tunnels. Seeing nothing, she headed towards the large mud puddle, near the point that all four of the clan territories meet. She could use a good roll in it to moisten her quickly drying fur. Drawing closer, the dark warrior dropped down, quickly passing through the dangerous middle level down to the soft humid ground. Landing lightly in a patch of thick dark greenery, she scented the air, creeping onward. Only a few tail lengths from her destination Blackpelt couldn’t hold back any longer; she raced up a soft slope and CRASH. The sky seemed alight with fire for a moment as the storm broke it open and thick fat drops of water began to fall. The shock of the loud noise had startled the young warrior and she had tumbled down the small hill deep into the thick cool mud. Pawing her way to the edge she shook herself, trying to clear her senses. Looking around for something to get the gloppy substance out of her ears, she saw them: a pair of eyes glowing in the rapidly gathering darkness, and the faint outline of the small cat crouched just on the far side of the Shadowclan border illuminated briefly by another flash of light. Hissing in surprise Blackpelt shook out her mud-caked fur, staring at the enemy's vague outline as the rain and wind grew even heavier.
