With his sky blue eyes bright and peppy as usual, the five moon old tom trotted out of the nursery, smiling obliviously to the world around him. Come on, what more than his next game did a kitten need to worry about in their life? Well, food was obviously a need, but playing and being kittish was the main thing on Laurelkit’s agenda. For now. Sadly, he had a lot of confusion, heartbreak, and pain to come in the future. Though, with guidance, he’d be able to get through it without hurting himself in the physical sense. Spotting a butterfly, a bright grin danced across his maw, and the little white tom cat took off at a skip after it. Darting the occasional forepaw upwards, it always fluttered out of reach, but it amused him just the same. “Come back here, Mister Butterfly! I wanna play!
[/b]” After exclaiming this, he leaped upwards after the butterfly. Catching its wing lightly, not enough to bring it down of course, he squealed in delight. Though, it distracted him from landing, and he landed down on his paw the wrong way, greeted by a sickening crack. A shriek of pain emitted from his parted jaws, and the not so familiar prickle of tears formed behind his eyes, but Laurelkit was not about to start crying over a little pain. That was all it was, right? Rising to his paws, well, three of his paws, the little son of Frosttalon hobbled his way over to the medicine den with an obvious frown on his maw. Poking his head into the den, he blinked slowly. “ Mister Lakesong? I hurt my paw, can you help me?” Blinking again, he looked around the den, not as fascinated as kittens aspiring to be medicine cats were, as his paws were set on the path of a warrior, but the medicine den still was quite interesting to him. Flowers, leaves, and berries lined the walls all around them, and all the scents mingling together was nice. For a bit, at least. They were starting to give him a headache, so he was hopeful the medicine cat would show up soon. Padding, or limping, a bit further into the den, Laurelkit awkwardly sat down and looked around once more. His father had really never mentioned medicine cats or herbs before, which was why he wasn’t all that interested in learning them or training to be a medicine cat. Actually, he really wanted to be a warrior for that matter. It would certainly be useful to know the basics, yes, but being a warrior was what Laurelkit truly wanted. Though, he’d need to get his stupid paw fixed up before that could happen, obviously. With a flick of his tail, he stood up for a moment, looking over his shoulder to see if anyone he knew out of the den was watching him, but he noticed no others out there. Sighing, he flopped back down into a sit, disturbing his paw and letting out a whimper of pain. Blinking back the tears, he sniffed and forced a smile once again. “ Lakesong?” Maybe the medicine cat was just sleeping, it was perfectly alright for cats to sleep, but Laurelkit was quite the little brat at times, and if he wasn’t getting what he wanted and needed right when he needed it, he tended to throw a fit. There was something about the air that soothed him, though, and no unneeded outbursts came from the young tom cat at all what so ever. [/sup][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Lakesong
The tom had been watching the kit play, his green eyes peeking just above the water and his silvery gray fur and scales allowing him to blend in with the water so that he was virtually undetected. The kitten was playing about as any other would, yet he found himself entranced with the youngster, as he was with every other tom. They were so carefree and loving most of the time, so untainted, and it reminded him of himself in his younger days, when he too laughed and played, but now he was just a grumpy tom, but he wasn’t old. He was far from it.
The pervious medicine cat was cut down in her prime, and even earlier then he expected, Lakesong took her place as medicine cat before he even knew what he was doing. He had become so numb at that point, and the lack of feeling had extended throughout the rest of his life. Yet, he still held an interest in kits. They flocked to him as well, probably seeing as he fed them honey whenever they wanted (for the most part; he wouldn’t dare tell Lionstar what he was doing) and massaged their bellies when they complained about tummy aches after eating all his herbs.
When he heard the little one squeal in pain, Lakesong’s eyes widened just a bit out of their half moon state, and his fin rose slightly before falling down once more. The youngster’s paw had slipped and the silly thing injured it. He went off to his living space, mewling for him as he went. With a sigh, then medicine cat went underwater in search for the medicine that he needed.
After coming back up, he emerged on the rocks inside the dome, his body waddling ungracefully outside of the water as he toddled to the entrance. He flicked his head, sending the herbs onto his back and as he approached, then took Laurelkit’s scruff in his mouth and picked him up and carried him inside before placing him where he needed to and gently easing him down on his side so he could inspect the injured paw. ”You need to be more careful, Laurelkit.”
(This kind of makes Lakesong sound like a pedophile… huehuehue)

The sensation of being moved and placed down didn’t really phase the young tom cat, so he merely made no attempts to struggle, and simply let Lakesong move him. Flicking his tail ever so slightly, Laurelkit blinked up at the medicine cat with wide, very feminine blue eyes. “I do need to be more careful, I just really wanted that butterfly! Are you going to be able to help my paw?” He asked with an evident frown, not really understanding that his paw could be mended, and that it was possible to revive his dear friend from it’s coma. Or, mend his paw, in other words. Blinking once again, he looked around the den, spotting a bright yellow flower. It was gorgeous! Oh, it would look great on him, he could even picture it. Strutting around the camp with a flower on, he’d be the belle of the ball! Except, he could hear the whispers and the murmurs already. Most cats didn’t like the way he acted, and he could tell, but nothing was really stopping Laurelkit from being himself. At the moment.
With a sigh, he lifted his injured paw once again, and frowned at it. “Come on, Mister Paw! You aren’t allowed to be injured, we have Mister Butterfly to catch!” The little white tom meowed, his eyes confident and defiant, yet there was still the cautious air there, and of course he wasn’t about to jump up and race around, because what idiot would do that? With another casual twitch of his tail tip, followed by one of his right ear, the little five moon old waited. Frosttalon’s son was nearly six moons old, and he’d be an apprentice soon! Naturally, the petite and feminine figured tom couldn’t wait to be a warrior, and was convinced that he was destined to be leader one day! Though, he wasn’t destined to be leader one day, it just wouldn’t happen.
Sadly, Laurelkit’s paws were set on a difficult path. No pun intended. He’d discover so much about himself in a few short moons, things would be tough, and there would obviously be moments when he wished he had never been born. There would be mocking words, nasty glares, the works. But there would also be support, friendship, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Everything would work out, though it will surely be hard to reach the reward.

“Hush, you,” Lakesong said to the youngster as he placed the young creature down on the ground, careful not to force any weight on his injured paw. “If you were here for anything else, I would not bother healing you…” His voice was monotonous, but still held that calming, soft sound that only he could manage to produce. He tossed the seaweed down off of his back and it fell onto the ground with a wet plop! and nearly on top of Laurelkit. Lakesong’s perceptive eyes saw exactly what the kit was looking at: his yellow flowers…A few months ago, the medicine cat had found a few small seeds in a pod and brought them back to his den, hoping to use them. When he couldn’t identify the unknown seeds, he had thrown them on a wet pile of moss that grew in his damp den, and the plant took off from there. Now, one large, vibrant blossom stood there merrily, the vivid color cheering up his den happily.
God, he hated it.
The young tom waddled to the back of the den and snipped the flower off its stem with practiced ease before returning and holding it out for the youngster. “There. Keep it. It’s nothing important.” Perhaps that would Keep Laurelkit calm and out of trouble as he treated him. “Maybe if you’re lucky, your butterfly will come and see it.”
Lakesong pressed his nose against the injured paw, his pink frill rising up as he did. He prodded and poked as gently as he could to see if he had broken it, and when he did, he saw a lump forming right above the paw, which meant it was already swelling, and was most likely a break. With a sigh, Lakesong pressed his nose into Laurel kit’s belly and gently eased him onto his side. “You’re going to need to do everything I tell you if you want to play with mister butterfly again, okay? If you don’t, you’ll just get hurt worse…So listen up.” The scaly tom trotted to the back, his long, fishy tail dragging on the ground as he did. He’d need cobwebs and pain killers and some honey for the poor creature to suck on if he started complaining. “You're going to have to sit still for a little while, and I mean dead still. No running, no jumping, and no butterfly chasing. You've broken your lower leg, and if you put weight on it, it will hurt and it won't heal... I’ll take you out to go play on the lily pads once you’re healed, but only if you behave.” [/color][/blockquote]
