For some reason, one she couldn't even begin to wrap her aloof little mind around, Stealthstar had assigned her to guard the nursery. Which meant she was in charge of watching Snowflower, who was carrying the next generation of the clan within her stomach. Now, no pressure or anything. With a casual flick of her tail, the striking and abnormally tall fox red she-cat gave a soft sigh, having just left the meeting, and made her way over to the nursery with a stressed out expression displayed evidently on her face. Cardinalpaw wasn't upset with the task, no, she was just horrified that she'd mess up in some way or another, and get herself into trouble with her clanmates. Which was most likely why the pressure was building up within her, and threatening to knock her down. Figuring it wouldn't exactly be the best thing in the entire world to head into the den with a look of anxiety in her pastel green eyes, the seven moon old she-cat took a deep breath, obtaining a casual composure before padding gracefully into the den. Ducking down below the low hanging roofed entrance to the den, her height was quite the drawback to walking normally, Cardinalpaw looked around the den before sitting down and wrapping her tail neatly over her paws.
Just being within the den brought back memories. From sight, vision, and pretty much everything. Over in the far corner of the den was where she and her littermate, Sparrowpaw, had been raised. Of course, they had recently been apprenticed, but that corner and the abandoned nest that was currently over there had been home for a solid six moons, even if her first few moons weren’t exactly fresh in her memory at the given moment. That was natural, though, to not really remember all that much from her first few moons of life. With a bright and genuine grin on her maw, the tall and thin figured she-cat gave a gentle flick of her tail, smiling at Snowflower. “Hello! I’m here to help guard the nursery,” Cardinalpaw explained, her voice as bright and peppy as it usually was when she spoke. Actually, the fox red apprentice couldn’t really remember a time when she wasn’t just bursting from the seams with excitement. It was weird, honestly. Her parents had thought she was odd when she never stopped chattering like a starling- she’d even been told her name could be changed, and it had always lingered back there in her mind.

"Oh, hello, Cardinalpaw!" Snowflower happily greeted the apprentice. She hardly ever saw the apprentice's when they weren't busy with caring for the elders and her. "Why don't you get some prey for us? We can eat and talk, if you want to." Snowflower was never one to pressure any cat into doing something they wouldn't want to do, but it did get lonely around here. She did want to hear about the apprentice's training. In fact, she might just mother the poor apprentice to insanity, but maybe the apprentice wouldn't mind being treated like a kit for the day. She flicked her tail and heaved herself upright. Cardinalpaw had always been such a sweet apprentice. Though, she did seem to have a temper, according to her clanmates, but Snowflower had never witnessedit and thus denied that it was true.

CARDINALPAW -- APPRENTICE -- SKYCLAN
Well, this was good! It seemed Snowflower was in a good mood, and when other cats were in good moods, it just put Cardinalpaw into an even better mood. Smiling and dipping her head to the queen once again, the tall and awkward fox red she-cat turned and hopped over to the fresh-kill pile, selecting a snow hare, and then hopped right back over to the nursery. Sometimes it was just fun to play pretend. In this case, she was being a frog. Setting the snow hare down before the queen, she blinked her sparkling, pastel yellow eyes. "Here, you have as much as you want, and I'll have what ever is left over," she meowed, nudging the fresh-kill closer to the queen. It was something she'd learned in her short life time.
Always let queens, elders, and kits eat first before taking your own prey. Hence the reason she was displaying it now.

When Cardinalpaw came hopping back with a snow hare, Snowflower gave a small mrrow of amusement. The snow hare was pushed closer to her, and she took a mouthful of the snow hare, its delicious juices seeping into her mouth. "We can share; no cat should have to eat what's left over from another cat," she purred Snowflower smiled; she knew she was treating the apprentice like a kit, but that's just what she did. She would have babied the warriors, but she never did get the chance.
((I'm sorry this is so short, I'm low on muse at the moment but I'm just catching up in whatever posts I need to catch up in.))
