- Palecloud -
I'll hang onto these last words
Palecloud had tried to stay out of things, he really had. He joined the fight and helped the warriors to drive out the rogues, using his horns and strength to wound the offending cats. After the battle, he had tended to all of the wounded cats, making sure everything was well. Luckily he had a good stock of herbs, and none went without. The white tom made sure to treat all of his patients before himself. He had received few injuries, but there was a long cut down his side that could risk infection if he didn't treat it. A few marigold leaves and cobwebs had done to trick, and just as he was fixing it the call rang out; The kits are gone! Palecloud is generally a very... distant cat. He dislikes to interfere with the clockwork of the clan, or to let emotions rule himself, but he couldn't help but remember his kithood.
The memories he has with Palekit are probably some of the happiest memories he has. She was such a sweet, gentle soul, and she didn't deserve to be ripped from life. Occasionally, she still visited him in his dreams. For a moment, he wondered why StarClan hadn't foreseen this, but then he remembered that even they can get caught by surprise.
Of course, his frist port of call was the nursery. One of the queens, Snowflower, had recently given birth to 3 beautiful kits. He knew the queen would be absolutely distraught. She was still a little weak from the birth, but he hoped she'd be strong enough for what he was thinking. Just before he left, he grabbed a few leaves of borage and ragwort for the queen. Then, it was to the nursery.
Usually the warm aroma of milk soothed Palecloud, but not today. It was too empty, too bare. He shivered as he walked in, and located the poor queen. Without a word, he dropped the bundle at her paws. For a moment he stood in silence, before opening his maw and talking in his usual monotone. I'm terribly sorry about your kits. If you'll come with me, together we can hunt for them.
And now, he stood at the tree-line, waiting for the queen to come. He thought it would be too consipicious both of them leaving camp at the same time, so he asked her if she could leave a little later than him. A brisk breeze ruffled his thick fur, and he shifted his position, keeping an eye out for Snowflower.
