I quickly jumped up, shaken but okay as Swiftriver clawed up the badger. As it turned on him, I ran up to the front of its neck and hit similarly to Swiftriver. The animal, stunned by our ferocity, roared again with a huge shake of its head. I clung on for dear life, biting below the face as paws swung up."I think he's getting scared!"

"Hold on!" Swiftriver yowled, leaping off of the badger and away from it's paws. Then he ducked back under it's head and sunk his teerh deep into its throat as it tried to get Jet. The beast roared and stumbled backwards. It was blinded by pain and was headed straight for a spike of rock that would most likely kill it, though it should have been dead already. "Watch out!"

(Sorry for speedy ending, have to go to bed) "Hold on!" As Swiftriver bit into the badger as well, I managed to find a grip with my claws on the creature's fur. With us both on him, he panicked, falling back with the attempt to remove both of us. "Watch out!" My eyes widened as spiked rock crept into the edge my vision, the badger stumbling back with pain right towards it. Releasing my teeth from grimy fur, I pushed Swiftriver aside with front paws to keep him from being harmed by the slashing rock. Leaping away and tumbling through the tough, battered ground of forest, I suddenly was thumped, stopped by another rock in this new area of land.
Flinching as who knew what would happen to the badger, I sat up coughing, then giggling, then laughing before looking about for a split second, eyes wide. "Swiftriver! Are you okay?!"

Swiftriver stood up, coughing, from the settling dust and swirling mist. "I'm fine. What was that thing? No badger should be that huge or hard to kill." He made his way over to Jet. "Have you fought it before?" He asked, still slightly dazed.

Hearing a cough, I stood and walked, Swiftriver and I meeting past a few other sharp rocks. He seemed to have gained a culture shock after the sudden event, but I ignored his slightly twisted face and looked over his shoulder in the direction of the rock that should have impaled the late, beastly-large badger. The only thing I could spot through the fog was a bit of blood from the creature, no more. Isn't that odd, it seems to have turned into mist... or dirt... or maybe the fog? "I'm fine. What was that thing? No badger should be that huge or hard to kill."
I sat again, chewing my lip in thought and staring at a pebble. "Have you fought it before?" I shot him a look of fear and turned my eyes back to the pebble. "No- Well, maybe. Well, no, it's complicated. Nothing of the sort. I think he came from the fog, sort of an illusion at first, to play around. It's almost like these things are... apparitions, if you get that. Ghostly and real. That was an angry beast, but before, I'd met a rabid squirrel. Pretty insane squirrel, too. He didn't speak or anything, that was good, but he ran and pretty much had me legging it around. Through the tree tops, holes in the ground... and disappeared."
I suddenly went silent, then let out a frustrated groan. "Okay, it's going to take a long time to explain. But, here's what you need to know... I'm guessing that these animal... things are emotions. That badger creature, for example, was probably anger. The squirrel was maybe sanity to me... that eyeless cat.... In this forested place, you can't go through the treetops even if you tried. You can't run from what haunts you, you can't dig very far either. Everything changes, and you can't find anyone. For example, we've moved a decent length, now everything is craggy and infested with dirty stones. Except that the trees extend, we can never see any sky. And we aren't both supposed to be here together, I would think. But everyone's been through pain and fear, so we both could see the monster badger." I let the concentrated opinions sink in before speaking again, with more shocking revelations.
"We cannot die here either, not again. That's why we have to try not to. The pain of dying again only to have to live it out... or even worse, to be taken somewhere unknown, maybe another part of the forest. No one else should have to learn what that feels like. I guess that's what Leaders have to go through, except much less pleasing." I silently pawed the pebble to the side, frowning. If this was all true, there had to be a loophole somewhere. There had to be a way out, something I was missing. Something in my face.

"Oh." Swiftriver glanced at her pebble, noticing how fascinated she was with it insted of looking at him. "I heard that the Dark Forest was a lot different. Back when...when Tigerstar was here. I heard it was endless training and fighting with other cats. But none of the stupid claws in weakling training we did in ThunderClan, real fighting. I also heard that if you died here, yoy were just gone forever. No one could ever return from that place. It sounds like you've been through a lot here. If we're not supposed to be together, will we get seperated soon? I felt strong when I got here bur now the fog feels like its sucking my strength. I'm not sure I could fight off anything else by myself."

(And here goes my own thought-process driven roleplay right here. Toss in what you like.) My tail flicked back and forth as I thought harder than before. There sat the lifeless pebble, forever to be covered in dirt. Tigerstar. I've never heard of Tigerstar. It's like our paths have crossed just for a second, just that fraction of a moment of an entire lifetime that seems only a minute to us, two now defenseless and out of our time cats. I guess this place has changed if it was like that before, but what if it's just based on perspective? And I don't understand how their Tigerstar could get here between lives... much a mystery to me, I never even had multiple lives before sinking here. How long does it take if souls fade after time? I don't know. And we have to go through these things, these tasks. Tigerstar had to fight... so maybe it's an endless battle against ourselves. Maybe even his past and future lives, they could have even been warning him about this... and maybe we have to work our way out of this place.
Eradicating my thoughts for now, I finally cast my eyes upon Swiftriver. He was willing to take risks, fight to get the job done, to even distrust before finding the purpose to trust others. A good Warrior, albeit an old murderer. "Very likeable in Bloodclan, hm? Did you actually care for anyone there? Because it seems we're all haunted. And this place always changes. We've had different experiences here, but not us two. Maybe this place is endless, maybe it's just plain changing, but it's a challenge. A challenge that anyone left may have taken, may have failed through, may have passed through. And I wonder, I wonder," I questioned, unable to hold in my thought process, "I wonder if instead of being gone forever or working forever, something else happened... or you were moved. I simply wonder. How cunning would that be? What sane cat could possibly have created this idea? Definitely not a sane one, but indefinitely a mastermind. How does time even work? What could happen? What's next?"

He frowned, confused again. This strange cat seemed very crazy and talked in circles, about things he didn't understand. "In answer to your furst question, the only cat I actually liked there was a young she-cat named Mint and they made me kill her when they found out. I don't know what you're saying though, about the forest."

There really was no way to explain anything. "You're a bit thick, I'm sorry. Just listen, this monster thing is your life now, it's been mine for who knows how long. Just these creatures over and over again. But I feel like something is testing us, and there has to be a way out. Maybe to Starclan, maybe back to normal life. But we're missing something, I feel it. Like your friend! I miss mine a bunch, no matter what. It's like my goal is to reach him again. This place is just too confusing for me, and we're trapped, and... I feel like I'm talking to a rabbit." Frustrated, I huffed and inspected a sharp rock, looking around for a low branch from the entangled trees.
Jumping from the rock, my claws managed to hang to the branch and I lifted myself up. The fog that had receeded back from the battle advanced again, swallowing the Tom up as I pawed a clump of leaves. Delighted, I yowled down, "I can get out!" Yes, yes, what if we're being lead somewhere? Either suffer or follow. Maybe we could find what way to go! Cautiously, I sniffed at a few more leaves before making an unhealthy path through, emerging at the tree tops. Next only was shocking.
From the top, even more forest stretched farther than I could see, dark and intimidating. The sky was a heavy black, filled and speckled by nothingness. My eyes widened, and I became frozen with shock and disbelief. There was nothing. It was just a dank, adventure-less maze from this point on. Nothing new to realize. Whimpering, I climbed all the way out, suddenly weighed down by some force as unsteady weavings of leaves shuffled in a nonexistent breeze. And then we have Starclan, forever peaceful. I would prefer the real life, full of misadventure and... Loss. And deathly pain ending in confusion, no bearing the pain many times over. I sat, drained of hope, longing for that adventure, staring into the blackness overhead until a daunting, teary feeling set in. "Stormcloud..."

He growled softly at her rabbit remark but didn't say anything necause he knew he was being really stupid. Suddenly everything made sense. He had made the worst mistake of his life, being evil. The Dark Foret wasn't what any cat imagined, it wasn't like what Tigerstar had made it. Tigerstar, Mapleshade, and Brokenstar were gone and it was kill or be killed, always a fight to survive. The only thing in his future was monstrous animals and endless wandering. Jet's voice came softly through the trees. "Stormcloud..." For a moment he wondered who Stormcloud was but then he was distracted by other things. A limp white figure had appeared at the edge of his vision, nearly smothered by the mist. It's head was at an impossible angle; long lines of blood stretched across its face from ear to jaw and across its neck . Twin swipes of four claws Xed its chest. A cry tore from him as though pulled out. "Mint!" He ran to her body and kneeled beside her, fighting back the urge to yowl his loss, not wanting to seem weaker or stupider than he already seemed. He traced the bloody cuts with a gentle paw, remembering when he had made them himself. He didn't have to maim her body, only kill her but he had to appear strong. As he lay by her body, the marks began to heal. Blood faded away into nothing, gashes closed, and her neck was healed until only scars remained. He figured the injuries he'd had when he died had been healed too. Mint's pale green eyes opened and a shiver ran through her body. She stood up slowly, shakily, but seemed to be rapidly gaining strength. "Swift? Is that you?"

"Mint!" I ignored the sudden remark by Swiftriver as I looked down, mouth open and culture shocked. Something across the leaves glinted into view. Some of the fog seemed to rise, and in the swirl of white I viewed a glowing calico pelt. Mint and Stormcloud. Instinctively, even longingly, I sprinted as quickly as I could above the treetops as the pressure on me became almost insurmountable. Nothing could stop me, not from seeing Stormcloud one more time. "Stormcloud! Stormcloud! I miss you! You shouldn't have left me, you couldn't have left me with Terrainclaw! Please don't leave me again."
Slowing down because of the pain from some sort of barrier pressing harder than ever, I trotted through the thick leaves towards my calico companion. The fog swirled, making Stormcloud flicker. "No... NO!" I began running again, but it was too late. The fog dissipated, taking Stormcloud with it. It had only ever been a projection. Stormcloud has always been in Starclan, I knew that. If he really could come back, just for a moment, I would tell him how much I missed him. I wouldn't be able to speak, actually. Finally accepting defeat and passing the spot, I turned, jogging again, now unable to speak any more. This was truly punishment. I knew I had done wrong, and I had accepted it, over and over, even after everything fell. I never really did know how long I spent in the Dark Forest, and I never truly will find out.
Some of the leaves thinned as I made it back to where I had exited, and a stray branch from below cropped up. Suddenly, I was thrown down from tripping, and the pressure above took its course, ultimately tossing me back down through the trees next to our rocky clearing. "Wotcher!" I yelled as I tumbled down, sliding from a branch that I had quickly grabbed ahold of while falling. Landing on the tough ground that knocked the wind out of me, I quickly recovered and jumped up, running to Swiftriver, whom I realized had met Mint. "Swift? Is that you?" A shaking, almost healed, green-eyed and white-pelted cat stood with the Tom. I silently walked over, watching the confused female carefully. Never said she was pretty.

"Yes, Mint, it's me. You're in what rhe clan cats called the Dark Forest." He ran his tail affectionately over her spine. "I'm so sorry...I had to do it..." He muttered as what he had done struck him again. "I know, I don't hold it against you." She said softly. "The Dark Forest, eh? This is the place you always wanted to be wasn't it?" "Yeah, it was a mistake." He said awkwardly, noticing Jet watching them critically. "I wish you didn't have to be here in this place but I'm glad you're here with me." "Me too." She regarded the black she-cat cooly. "Who's this?"

(Sorry for the wait, I've been skin creating full time and my comp was taken yesterday, and... complications c:)
All the while my head swirled at the thought of Mint and Stormcloud coming back to meet Swiftriver and I, and how the calico had vanished in the mist. I watched Swiftriver a bit too carefully as he comforted Mint. "Yeah, it was a mistake. I wish you didn't have to be here in this place but I'm glad you're here with me." "Me too. Who's this?" Startled by the sudden turn of attention onto myself, I coughed momentarily and looked at Mint, forcing my jaws open. "I, um... I'm uh, Jet. I'm Jet. Sorry...." I'm getting weak. What sort of thing lives here but at the same time can't even stay focused?! Stay focused. Stop showing your emotions. I didn't do anything... wrong. I can't go back and fix anything either. But, how.... "Hm, right, sorry, I can't think today. Or whatever day it is. I'm just a rogue, pretty much, and I've been here for a while now, until Swiftriver walked in. Um, I hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you get here before her, Swiftriver? I thought you had to kill Mint first. I'm also sorry about that, for both of you. Death. I guess nobody gets what they expect, anywhere they go, even if they die."

"Maybe time just works differwntly here-" Swiftriver said slowly but Mint interupted him. "No, it doesn't. Not that much at least. I was in StarClan for a while before I realized you weren't there. There were some...complications...but I managed to find you and that's all that matters." She turned to Jet again. "A rogue? How long have you been here? And how long have you known Swift?" She blinked her green eyes at Jet. "Is there anything interesting here?"

"Maybe time just works differently here-" Yes, maybe it does. "No, it doesn't. Not that much at least. I was in StarClan for a while before I realized you weren't there. There were some... complications... but I managed to find you and that's all that matters." Oh. So... I wonder, how equal are they up there? I mean... I took Mint's attention again, this time on the alert for anything important. "A rogue? How long have you been here? And how long have you known Swift? Is there anything interesting here?" I shook my head in response to the flood of questions. "Yes, I'm a rogue.
I've been here for, hm, a few months actually. Doesn't feel that long in prospect. I just met Swiftriver a little while ago, maybe two hours or so." I paused, letting it sink in as I thought about the monsters, and about Mint being from Starclan. "Listen, you don't want to be here, I could tell you. I would be gone by now if I wasn't stuck here for my hatred towards any and every cat while I was alive. There are things... that keep appearing. And each thing represents something about Swiftriver and I, at least a badger for our hatred over time. I've seen the most horrible things and a starless sky, but at the same time this forest is homely with moss and things to climb." I finally decided to stop beating around the bush and ask about Starclan. "Well, Mint, do you have anyone with you in Starclan? Any Clan cats or otherwise that you get to see?"
