Lakesong
Plip plop! Plip plop! went the water that dripped off a small, thin tom as his webbed paws gripped the branches above the dome with skilled toes. His tall, pinkish fins were laid down to rest against his gray tabby back as he tried to balance his weight with his powerful tail. He was having difficulty with the task though; being so used to waddling as he pleased on the land had made Lakesong clumsy outside of the water. He now had to use all of his concentration just to get across the slippery branches, and his claws were so small that he barely had any grip on the algae covered branch. And for what? Some silly moss?
No, there was something more interesting residing in one of the crooks of the branches; A bees’ nest, a small one, but one that was probably packed to the brim with honey…One that would probably produce enough bees to harm a few kits if they weren’t careful. He had to have it; his supply was running low.
But, he had yet to figure out a way to knock it down without hurting anyone. He could easily knock it onto one of the large lily pads below and dive under for a minute until the bees went away, but those who were lounging outside comfortably might not appreciate a nest of angry bees being dropped on them.
He gently pawed at it, hoping that it was empty, but a few aggressive bugs came out and raced towards him. His expression barely faltered (his eyes only widened just a bit in surprise when one stung his nose) and he reared back on his back legs before losing his balance and tumbling down to the water a couple feet below.
A moment of silence passed as he recovered from the shock of hitting the cold water once again, the tom swished his tail and his head popped up above the water. A soft ‘tsk’ noise escaped his maw as he realized he hadn’t knocked it down yet and his face submerged itself under the water up to his green eyes so that only their bored gaze could be seen. He’d have to get up and try again. His tail propelled him along as he kept only his eyes and ears above water. The tom strongly resembled a shark, even with his large fin out of sight.
(Someone had to make the first post; I thought better sooner then later)
