Just a little idea I thought might be fun to play with: any old character you don't use anymore, character you haven't yet made a bio for, previous iteration of a current character, etc., now just wanders around in the In-between, bumping into others and hoping to properly exist soon. If anyone is interested, I'd be playing my first v1 cat, Swanpaw/chill (waiting to become her v2 iteration), and perhaps a ThunderClan tom who I plan to make in the future. Feel free to break out your most ridiculous old characters and your dearest departeds, because this is open to all!

i…where am i? <><><><><>
Everything was fog.
Well, that and vague memories and what she supposed was the new landscape. Whatever that meant.
Swanpaw flicked her ears and squinted. Everything was so confusing lately. Had been for a while. It seemed even she herself was changing, paws getting lighter and claws getting thicker by the day. Not to mention she couldn't quite recall the uses of herbs anymore, and she seemed to know herself as Swanpaw rather than…Swancold or whatever it was. She'd wondered where she was and what she was too many times to keep track of, and all she knew was that she wanted to exist properly already.
Whatever that meant.
She'd come to think of the barren land above all the tunnels as sort of a new home, and the tunnels themselves were oddly comforting as well. She was padding along the aboveground area at this moment, in fact, absentmindedly scenting for prey she knew she wasn't skilled enough to catch. One thing she knew was that she had an awful lot of trouble with hunting, and only the mentor she didn't seem to have could help with that. Her battle skills weren't a whole lot of use here.
The white apprentice paused, inhaling once again. Yes, there was another cat nearby, just beyond the veil of fog. She didn't recognize the scent at all, so it certainly wasn't no-name the ThunderClan cat, who didn't even come this way. Swanpaw sat, squinting slightly. "I can smell you, you know," she said plainly. "Might as well show yourself, I haven't exactly much reason to fight." She tilted her head slightly. "Not that I couldn't rip your pelt off if I wanted."

{{i just realized how off my grammar last post. sorry!}} Finalepaw suddenly realized he wasn't alone. But.. he wasn't sure if he wanted to do that. He didn't feel.. himself. Finalepaw didn't seem to be quite the right name... the word 'Coda' suddenly sprung to mind. And he didn't look pleasant at all, oh no. He was losing most of his weight, his ears and fangs were getting bigger and longer, and he was losing his precious long fur! Gathering his courage, he decided to reply. "Y-you, wouldn't actually do that though, r-right, ano? But, uh, I, I think I would feel more comfortable if, um, maybe I stayed hidden? I-I don't feel exactly, urhh, myself, if that makes sense?" His voice was trembling and uncertain, not at all hiding his anxiety.
Coda- no, wait, his name was Finalepaw, right? This, this foggy place wasn't the land he knew. It wasn't the abandoned twolegplace of Bloodclan, where he and... Niko? Yes, Niko, had led Bloodclan together, he the High Priest and Niko their great Sergeant. Only... he couldn't remember who Niko actually was. Or what they had done. All he could recall was a vast about of hazy golden happiness, occasionally interrupted by waves of solemn navy sadness.
With one last mental whisper of 'You can do this!', Finalepaw stepped out of the fog, and right before the other cat.

i…where am i? <><><><><>
Swanpaw almost laughed when the cat beyond the fog spoke. "Of course not. There's not much of a point in fighting around…here. And yes, I haven't met any cat yet who feels themselves." Though her words were casual, she spoke in a clipped manner, and they had a bit of an odd inflection. An accent? When the hell did I pick that up? "But yes, there's really nothing to worry about at the moment."
She watched intently as the cat stepped out. He, and yes, her nose told her it was indeed a he, was very skinny, with big ears and thin fur and some dangerous looking fangs. Swanpaw hadn't seen anyone like him, not yet, only the shocky-cats and a swimmy-cat or two. "I'm guessing you didn't have those fangs before? Must be one of those 'adaptations'. I've got these," the apprentice said, with a nod to her thick claws, which refused to sheath more than halfway. She took a small step closer to fang-cat, not very comfortable with talking so loud.
"Haven't asked your name yet, have I? I'm Swanpaw. Well, I'm pretty sure I am. that's who i think I'm going to be, at least. It's all just odd," she said, descending to a mutter. "Just odd."

- Twisted - Aren't ordinary people adorable?
The BloodClan she-cat had spent many, many moons traversing the strange white fog. She knew every swirl and eddy of the seemly uniform vapor. Yet, in every second that she had spent in the fog, she had been alone. Occasionally she would make out rough shapes of cats, and muffled voices, but they dissipated as soon as they came, fleeting wraiths unable to be touched. Not that she gave a damn.
Twisted walked through the fog, cutting through like a knife. Her dogs teeth claws sunk slightly into the ground as she walked, and her tail waved like a banner. This was her territory, this was her domain. Which is why she felt mild surprise at the sound of cats talking. Not just indistinct voices, but an actual conversation. Well, one of sorts. She pricked her ears at mention of 'adaptions', for she had occasionally heard the word whispered through the fog. That would explain why sometimes cats seemed... different. The scents were mixed up, and some had weird feathers or fins. Perhaps she had been in the fog for longer than she had expected.
The smoky grey she-cat was growing tired of simply listening into the conversation. Oh, it had been so long since she'd had some fun. She carefully, silently began to circle the cats, only drawing close enough to show some vague shape. A low growl built in her throat. Personally, she thought growling was vulgar and crude, but it could be a useful tool occasionally. It would be interesting to see how the cat's reacted.
|| OOC: || Heya, I finally replied, eh. This is one of my fav older charries, a BloodClanner named Twisted.

A Dream to Fly
Falconwing snapped his eyes open. He smelled several things his nose did not recognize. He twisted over on his stomach, trying to clear the fog from his eyes before realizing that it was the atmosphere that was clouded, not including anything from sleep.
The RiverClan deputy stood up, his fur slightly on edge as he tried to discern where he was. It certainly wasn't RiverClan territory, but he didn't recognize any landmarks belonging to other territories, either. His ears perked and his mouth opened as his mind panicked, screaming warnings of being lost and never being able to return.
Before long, he was able to discern two different things. What sounded like two apprentices conversing, and a low growl that Falconwing didn't like the sound of. He sunk into a more inconspicuous pose, stepping slowly forward as he recognized the scent of BloodClan. The other she-cat was eyeing the two younger cats with a fascination that sent a shiver down the deputy's spine.
"Hold there," Falconwing snapped at the she-cat, suddenly standing. Falconwing wasn't the hugest cat, but he was large enough. "What are you doing, BloodClanner?" He almost wanted to ask the other cat where they were, but he needed to keep up the appearance of authority... for now, at least. "This may not be RiverClan territory, but neither is it BloodClan's."
~
Falconwing is one of my most successful cats. I raised him from an apprentice to deputy of RiverClan before my old site died out. This will be fun. He was the only high-ranking cat I'd ever had before Flowerfur. This site's Flowerfur, not the old one.

i'm sure of so little... <><><><><>
Swanpaw's ears swiveled back instantly at the sound of the growl. What cat was so daring as to fight in this place? She flexed her claws, just about to call out, but another voice past the mist in the same direction interrupted. The white she-cat stepped forward somewhat hesitantly - no reason to rush into danger. She hoped she didn't smell too strongly of fear. There isn't any reason for fear, not here. Stay calm…
One cat was standing, one in a crouch. "This may not be RiverClan territory, but neither is it BloodClan's." The gray-pawed apprentice let out a short laugh. "Territory? I take it you're new or something? Even I know there's hardly a notion of territory around here. Just places that suit you and don't." Swanpaw faltered, watching the crouching cat out of the corner of her eye. "I mean no harm, of course. That'd be pretty dumb considering my age. I-I just can't help but talk when I actually see cats around here." She licked her chest, hoping that along with her practiced blank expression would help hide her nervousness. "What've you got, anyway? Shocks or gills or what?"

A Dream to Fly
Falconwing grew confused as the apprentice -- which he had never seen in the forest before -- speak. No notion of territory? There had always been territory. It was in a cat's nature to separate boundaries and protect the one they called theirs. He had never heard of a place without boundaries -- even loners and kittypets had them.
He noticed as the apprentice switched her gaze over to the BloodClan cat, and he remained standing in case they decided to make a sudden move. The RiverClan deputy's confusion only grew as the apprentice spoke of "shocks" and "gills". He knew what the latter was, but "shocks"? Like lightning? How in StarClan would a cat have "shocks"?
One thing was clear to him now. This was most certainly not the forest, nor was it anywhere near. This wasn't StarClan, certainly -- Falconwing didn't remember dying in the least bit -- and it wasn't the Dark Forest, either. At least, he thought so. It was certainly foggy enough to match the description, but he couldn't figure out why he would be there.
After a moment had passed, the deputy swallowed and spoke again. "Yes, actually. I am... new... here." Falconwing hesitated on the word. "And I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I don't know what shocks are, and I don't think eating fish makes one sprout gills," he joked lightly. His nervousness and confusion made the joke fall flat. "I... I think I'm lost. I'm from a place called RiverClan, in a forest a long way away from here." At least, I think it's a long ways away, Falconwing thought to himself.
"Please, tell me at least this. Where are we? Who are you?"
