....I love you, dear, but my attention span wouldn't let me read those... I think we should stick to the two part naming, though. We want to keep some warriors aspects in the site, since that's what it's based around.

Yeah, I meant two-part names but like are we allowing stuff like mythical creatures, gems, plants and animals that are not native to the British Isles, emotions, spiritual stuff, etc, etc? Cause I'm really against that nonsense even if we are becoming more fantasy-like. :I Whatever happened to names that described a cats fur or ability to hunt/jump/heal/whathaveyou?
And oh hey look, I have found Cobalt on there too. So she's on there and Forest of Fate instead of giving us our powers back so we can start fixing, as she calls it, 'a dying Warriors rp forum.' :I

I agree that we should stick with the typical warriors naming, but if, say, a cat grew up with two-legs or somewhere away from where the Clans live, then possibly they could name their kits something unusual. That's really the only reason I can think of for having a not-so-normal warrior name.
Also, BloodClan doesn't require two-part names, but that's the only Clan that doesn't.
* EDIT: We should go tell Cobalt to at least show up here to give out powers... We can't do anything unless she comes here. *

Well, maybe like, gems and metals, and non native stuff to an extent, if they give a good explanation as to why they're named that (which should be something we require, seeing as they're named after the traits they have, not just because they like the name...). Stuff like mytical creatures and emotions and human like things probably aren't something we should include though.
I agree on the Cobalt situation...Too much more waiting and we're probably going to let this site die off too, purely because of the reson that we can't do anything...It takes like...thirty seconds to give one person admin powers...

Having to give reasons for their names sounds great to me, I try to do that anyway in my bios.
Who wants to go try and find her?

I just really hate people who choose names for the sake of making a cool/cute sounding name.
Ill tell her since I found her.

Though I am now a complete traditional namer, I agree that there's no need to put too many restrictions. However, obviously no things the cats wouldn't know of are out. I prefer the "prefix is for appearance" route, myself, but I suppose if a reason can be given why this is not the case I wouldn't object.
And yes, I feel horribly guilty about that. I can say that that pm was completely justified, Blizzy. I'm giving out powers as soon as I post this.

I know it was justified, that's why I sent it.
I dunno guys, if I see any ridiculous names I'm telling them so and not accepting bio unless they change that Rainbowtail or Nightwhisper into something normal.

We really just need to decide what counts as "ridiculous". Tossing names like Rainbowtail or Sweetshine I can definitely agree with, but getting rid of all names that aren't traditional would turn a lot of people away from our site. After all, there are a lot of other naming styles out there. My personal opinion is if you can give a proper reason for each part of the name, (meaning named for appearance, skill, personality, etc.) then a name is acceptable. Example:
Honeyfoot: Prefix: Honey - she is a golden-brown tabby Suffix: foot - she is very swift and quick on her feet.
If a name can be reasonably justified in this manner, I think it can be accepted, and it draws a clearer line on what is unacceptable (just try justifying your precious Rainbowlight).

I also think that we should maybe allow a little wiggle room for if they base both parts of the names on either appearance or traits. And the first part of their name does come from the mother, so if they maybe explain it well enough, then we can allow it.
Like, my cat, Deadwood for example. His mother thought he was dead when he was born, so he was named Deadkit, and -wood came later because of his fur color, a dull brown. Or is this not acceptable?

Mm, I'd think in that case he'd be renamed when he was found to be alive. After all, I imagine it would be pretty awful going through your youth named Deadkit/Deadpaw. Still, yes, general point is there's wiggle room as long as it can be explained.

You also need to take into consideration who the kit's parents are. For example, if, say, the father died and the mother was in a very deep depression, she may possibly name one of her kits Deadkit or Lostkit, etc., just out of spite and to show her own feelings.
